The story goes that a newly engaged couple drove up to a bar called Poor Red's in their shiny gold car on their way to Lake Tahoe to celebrate.
They asked the bartender to create a cocktail to celebrate their engagement and the Golden Cadillac was the result. It still remains on Poor Red's drink menu to this day - and is served in a champagne coupe for women and a sidecar glass for men to honor that original car!
This cocktail uses only three ingredients and is super easy to make. It's such a great retro cocktail to serve during the holidays, along with its counterparts the Grasshopper and Pink Squirrel. Check out my recipe for the Violet Dream cocktail as well! Not retro, but also delicious.
And they all share similar ingredients, so serving all of them, or a combination, at your holiday parties is a no-brainer.
Golden Cadillac Ingredients
Heavy cream makes up the bulk of the Golden Cadillac. That gives the drink its creamy, thick consistency, almost like an ice cream float.
Added to that is White Creme de Cacao which is a clear chocolate and vanilla flavored liqueur.
The third and final ingredient is Galliano which is a vanilla and anise-flavored liqueur from Italy with citrus and ginger notes.
The Golden Cadillac is the perfect elegant holiday sipper!
