This pale purple frothy concoction is scented with the flavor of violets.

As a kid, my brother and I used to eat the violets we found growing in our backyard in Massachusetts. Hey, what can I say? Small town living at its finest.

We also always had plenty of wild violets growing in our lawn when we lived in Virginia, so years ago I was inspired to make my own homemade violet soda which was actually so easy to make and so delicious!

I liked the faint, very subtle violet flavor so much, I bought a bottle of Creme de Violette. Period. End of story. That bottle has sat in our liquor cabinet for more than a decade!

But when I started researching some retro cocktail recipes for the holidays recently, I ran across a few recipes using the Creme de Violette. One of which is the Violet Dream.

This cocktail uses only three ingredients and is super easy to make.

It's such a great cocktail to serve during the holidays as an after-dinner sipper, along with these retro cocktails that also share two of the ingredients: the GrasshopperPink Squirrel and Golden Cadillac

Since they all share similar ingredients, serving all of them at your holiday parties is a no-brainer. Let each guest choose their favorite flavor!

Violet Dream Ingredients

The main ingredient of the Violet Dream is the Creme de Violette which has the faint flavor of violets.

Added to that is White Creme de Cacao which is a clear chocolate and vanilla flavored liqueur.

Heavy cream makes up the remainder of this cocktail. That gives the drink its creamy, thick consistency, almost like an ice cream float.

Pour it into your prettiest, most dainty coupe or cocktail glass, and it's the perfect holiday sipper!
