I love making apple pies, but I also love to try new recipes. So when I saw a few recipes for these smash roll ups, I had to give them a try. 

They were good... really good.

Fresh wild Maine blueberries make the best blueberry pies and cobblers, but if you can’t find them, then frozen will do. And if you can't find any wild Maine blueberries, then regular blueberries will do.

I love to bake almost anything, but I think if I had to choose, then I would say that pies are my favorite thing to bake. Blueberry, apple, strawberry rhubarb - whatever fruit is in season, that's the kind of pie I'll bake.

During the entire twelve years that we lived in Virginia, I never made a pecan pie. Not a single one. Which is odd because the South is known for its pecans.

Apple pie has long been a favorite of my husband's, so a few years ago, I convinced his father (a lifelong New Englander) to share his legendary recipe with me.

I've been baking blueberry pies for years. We've been fortunate that my father-in-law was living in Maine and had a field of wild blueberries, so he would always stop on his way from Maine to Florida for the winter and drop off blueberries for us.

Growing up in New England meant eating rhubarb straight out of my grandmother's garden, dipping each stalk in a cup of sugar and then savoring each sweet/tart bite. 

Nothing says summer like fresh berries. 

And this quick, easy berry crisp is perfect for your Fourth of July celebration and can be made using any type of berry you wish - blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, even strawberries.

I prefer a mix of blackberries, raspberries and blueberries, which is what I used here.

When I first started making them for him, I would just use a box of instant pudding mix, but after we got chickens and I started making homemade pudding, I just automatically started using my own pudding in his banana cream pies.

Ever since we started raising chickens, eating chicken has become very much taboo, as you can imagine. 

Full disclosure, I really never was a huge fan of chicken. To me, there's nothing worse than a dry, boring chicken breast.
